5,500 lose power in Hazel Dell area

A sudden power outage about 10:05 p.m. Wednesday turned out the lights at 5,486 homes and businesses from Hazel Dell and into Salmon Creek.

A spokeswoman for Clark Public Utilities late Wednesday said crews were en route to the Stockford substation to find the problem. She said no damage to power lines had been reported.

No injuries had been reported, a 911 dispatcher said. A tree did fall at Northwest 40th and Columbia streets, but it didn’t pull any lines down.

A man who called The Columbian to report the outage said a windstorm had been occurring at the time of the outage.

The utility said late Wednesday that all power would be restored by midnight.
