Minnehaha — Capt. Harley Hall, a 1955 graduate of Evergreen High School, was the last Navy pilot shot down in the hours before the cease-fire in Vietnam in 1973.
Despite the U.S. government declaring in 1980 that Hall “presumed to be killed in action,” his family believed he was still alive.
Susan Keen, the wife of the flight surgeon who was on the Blue Angels team when Harley was the commander, put Hall’s story into writing. The book “Left Alive to Die” chronicles evidence that Hall remained alive for years after his capture.
