Northeast Hazel Dell — Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 6 were pretty in pink last month in honor of breast cancer awareness. Fire Chief Jerry Green authorized firefighters to wear a pink shirt as part of their uniform. Firefighters first wore the shirts in October last year after the wife of Battalion Chief Todd Iremonger was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. After radiation and chemotherapy, Christina Iremonger says a mammogram in January came out clean. “I have a few more years to get through before I can be confident that I am cancer-free,” said Christina, “but the continued support I am receiving from our community and from all of you really keeps me positive and hopeful that all will turn out well.”
