Fisher-Mill Plain — A team of students from Union High School took third place in the Washington State Envirothon. The Envirothon is North America’s largest high school environmental education competition. The students compete on their knowledge of five areas: soils, forestry, aquatic ecology, wildlife and a current environmental issue which in 2011 was “Freshwater and Saltwater Estuaries.” The students on the Union team were Minerva Zhou, Steven Tsai, Catherine Nguyen, Nathan So, and Marcus Kwan. Their adviser is John Akers.
