Camas library sponsors Gorge photography contest

The Columbian
Published: May 18, 2011, 12:00am

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Act, the Camas Public Library wants you to snap beautiful pictures and send them in.

The second annual photography contest sponsored by the library is now open for submissions on the theme “Camas Looks at the Gorge.”

Amateur photographers in two age groups (younger than 17 and 17 and older) are invited to enter their favorite works that focus on the Gorge in any of three categories (people, scenic and manipulated). Each person may enter two photos for free; additional entries require a fee of $5 each.

Deadline is 5 p.m. June 20; each photo must be accompanied by an entry form and must be printed on standard-size or larger photo paper with a border. Electronic copies are encouraged for publicity purposes, but the entries themselves must be on paper.

Complete rules and entry forms are on the library’s website, http://www.ci.camas.wa.us/library/index.htm, and at the library itself, 625 N.E. Fourth Avenue.

Contest entries will be displayed in the library’s Second Story Gallery in July. The exhibition will be judged by viewers and People’s Choice Awards will be announced on July 26.
