Fircrest — Fighting childhood obesity was a major consideration of student volunteers during the creation of a Healthy Lifestyle Handbook. The handbook informs readers about the three main components of healthy living: nutrition, exercise and stress management. Project Healthy Lifestyle was funded by a grant from United Healthcare and Youth Service America. The goal was to have youth in the community create and publish a healthy lifestyle handbook. The project, organized by Mikeila Nienaber, began on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the final unveiling of the handbook was April 16, Global Youth Service America Day, during a celebration at the Cascade Park Community Library. Project volunteers were TJ Austin, Matthew Elias, Alex Estell, Justine Hanrahan, Madi Harris, Nathaniel Nienaber, Taylor Nienaber, Emily Seynaeve, Robyn Thum, Dakota Wixom.
