Evergreen — Evergreen High School students are learning about the legislative process through a pilot project called “Capitol Classroom.” Through the project, the students see how government really works and are able to stay connected with what is happening in Olympia.

The program allows students to interact with state legislators and lobbyists, monitor committee meetings, and offer testimony through the Internet via the Washington State Public affairs TV Network, TVW.

The students chose SB 5021, sponsored by Sen. Craig Pridemore, D-Vancouver, to monitor and endorse. The bill is aimed at making election campaigning more transparent to the public.

Evergreen is one of two high schools in the state participating in this pilot project.
