WOODLAND — More than 860 fathers and daughters had a ball at the 7th Annual Father/Daughter Ball in Woodland. The dance, held at the Woodland Elementary School, was sponsored by Grace Community Church. Around 40 volunteers, servers, decorators, photographers, security personnel and musicians helped make the community event a success.

“A girl’s value and self-worth can be based upon her relationship with her father,” said Deb Kitchen, lead organizer for the event. Pastor Todd Cloud said it was a chance for fathers to “show their daughters the proper way to be treated like a lady (and to) give the girls a healthy benchmark standard to apply once they begin dating.”

Though this was one of the missions of the event, no age limits applied. Proceeds from this year’s ball will go toward next year’s event.
