WASHOUGAL — An ExCEL Academic League team took third place in the Orca Bowl 2011 science competition held at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The Orca Bowl is one of 25 regional competitions that make up the National Ocean Sciences Bowl program, which is sponsored by the Consortium for Ocean Leadership. Sixteen high school teams from across the state were asked questions about the biology, chemistry, geology, physics, history and economics of the ocean.
Students on the ExCEL team were Hayley Williams, Trisha Williams, Heidi Osborne and Heather Kobilan. ExCEL’s coach is Ann Williams.
