June 12 named Children’s Day

Hazel Dell — Robin Durkee of Hazel Dell is an advocate for missing children. She has also become an advocate for National Children’s Day. But closer to home, Durkee was the impetus behind Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt’s city proclamation of Children’s Day on June 12, 2011, an honorary day to celebrate children.

Durkee says Children’s Day is a time to make memories, spend time with family, go for a bike ride, or sit by the river and skip stones. She plans to request a proclamation in Vancouver in 2012, as well.
