Burgerville to donate 10 percent of proceeds to Camas library

The Camas Burgerville, 518 N.E. Third Ave., will donate 10 percent of all proceeds from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday to the Camas Public Library.

The library offers several programs for children, teens and adults.

Longtime Camas teacher retires

Longtime Camas School District teacher Gail Welsh is retiring after 42 years in the district.

Her co-workers at Skyridge Middle School are celebrating her retirement with a party on Thursday, June 16 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the school library, 5220 Parker St.

The party is open to the public, and anyone who has memories or pictures of Welsh is invited to send those to connie.pappas@camas.wednet.edu, and put WELSH in the subject line. Organizers are requesting stories, pictures and short video clips.

Camas resident graduates from Whitworth

Kendall Gadd of Camas has earned a bachelor of arts degree from Whitworth University in Spokane.

She majored in biology.

Whitworth University has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students.

Library asking for volunteers

The Camas Public Library is seeking adult and teen volunteers to assist with the summer reading program. Duties include signing participants in, logging reading times and issuing prizes.

Volunteers must enjoy talking to children, learn computer skills quickly, love reading and have an e-mail address that is checked regularly.

The time commitment is a minimum of three hours per week, with a time frame of Monday, June 20 to Friday, Aug. 12.

JWR planning events for June

The Jack, Will and Rob Boys & Girls Club is kicking off its summer programs with a talent show on Saturday, June 25 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event is open to the public. The club is located at 2033 N.E. Ione St. and has a variety of programs.

Washougal School District to host budget forum

The Washougal School District will host a community budget forum on Wednesday, June 15 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Washburn Performing Arts Center at Washougal High School, 1201 39th St.

The purpose is to present 2011-12 district budget information and provide an opportunity for community input.
