Harold is a 2-year-old domestic shorthair. He came to the shelter with his sister, Maud, when their owners moved and could not take them. Harold needs a home with children older than age 6 because he does not like to be held very long. We recommend he gets a slow introduction to his new household, just so he has time to acclimate.

Brutus is a 5-year-old Rottweiler who came to the shelter when his previous owners could no longer care for him. He needs a home with a fenced yard. Brutus knows many basic commands and is housebroken. He’s a big boy who likes to cuddle and loves tennis balls. Brutus needs to meet any children older than age 10 or large dogs that he may be living with. Brutus also needs a home without cats, as he will chase them.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
