Esther Short — The forests in Washington are being renewed thanks to a program in which the Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is involved. The funeral home is associated with Lofty Oaks Association, a group from New Hampshire dedicated to reforestation and conservation in Washington.

For each memorial service handled by Hamilton-Mylan, a tree is planted as a living memorial in honor of the deceased. So far, the program has planted more than 2,700 trees in Washington.
