Macho is a 6-year-old black cat. He came to the shelter as a stray. Now he is ready to start a new life with a family that will love him and keep him safe. Macho will need to go to a home with children 10 and older because he does not like to be held for long. He will need to be indoors only to keep his coat free of mats. Macho would like a slow introduction to his new household, just so he has time to acclimate. This sweet boy is ready to start his new life.

Emery is an 8-year-old border collie-Australian cattle dog mix and he cannot wait to find his forever home. If you have children older than 6 or any dogs at home, bring them in to meet Emery so everyone can be friends. Emery still has a bunch of energy for being an older fellow and would love to get a walk every day. Ask the adoptions staff how to meet him today.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
