West Hazel Dell — Girl Scout Brownie Troop 42561 worked hard this cookie season. Despite this being several of the girls’ first time selling Girl Scout cookies, they sold more than 2,400 boxes. The money lets the troop discover, connect and take action in their community. Together, the girls voted to donate 15 percent of the earnings to help local babies through the Babies in Need program. The Brownies presented a $255 check in June to Kitty Ash, director of the nonprofit, which will be used to buy car seats, diapers, or wipes. The girls also donated clothing for several layettes.

The troop shipped 94 boxes of cookies to U.S. Soldiers serving in Afghanistan through the Gift of Caring Cookie Donation program and donated 19 boxes to seniors at Highgate Senior Center.

Troop members are Haley Dojan, Lily Jonas, Maddy Surface, Amy Rapp, Kendra Odren, Abbey Kadlec, Kenna Yakimchick, and Kristina VanHouten.
