Kuni Foundation gives money to cancer research

Fircrest — The Wayne D. Kuni & Joan E. Kuni Foundation and the Kuni family have awarded scholarships to three cancer research scientists: Dr. Joshi Alumkal of the Oregon Health Science University Knight Cancer Institute in Portland; Dr. Marka Crittenden of the Providence Cancer Center in Portland; and Dr. Maria Corinna Palanca-Wessels of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

Alumkal’s research focuses on prostate cancer; Crittenden’s research concerns brain tumors; Palanca-Wessels studies ovarian cancer. Each Kuni scholar will receive $200,000 over two years to help develop independent cancer research projects.
