Bennington — The New Day Community Dental Clinic has received a $10,000 grant from The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington to provide dental care for people seeking employment.

Shelley Guinn, New Day executive director, says sometimes qualified people don’t make it past the interview stage if their teeth are in bad shape. She hopes to improve patients’ chances for gainful employment with this program.

Services offered can include dentures, fillings and basic cosmetic restoration. Participants’ income must be at or below 200 percent of federal poverty level, workforce-ready and should be referred by local health providers or vocational service organizations such as Partners in Careers or WorkSource.
