Northeast Hazel Dell — More than 100 people welcomed Kate and Clarence LaLonde Neighborhood Park to the neighborhood on June 11. Or should we say, welcomed them back.

The 7.7-acre park is located at 4608 N.E. 99th Street on what was part of the LaLonde family farm for 100 years. The dedication included a colorful and entertaining history lesson from Beth Skaggs, granddaughter of Kate and Clarence LaLonde. LaLonde family members from far and wide turned out at the event to help celebrate their family’s legacy in Clark County.

The Northeast Hazel Dell Neighborhood Association presented Community Partner Awards to the Blind Onion, Walmart, McDonald’s and Burgerville for their help with many events and activities throughout the year.

The new park features paved walking trails, farm-themed playground equipment, a basketball half court and sports court, picnic area, open lawn, benches and a drinking fountain. More information is available at: http://www.clarkparks.org/projects/lalonde.htm.
