Off-road enthusiasts losing Fourth Plain site

VANCOUVER — The large dirt hills that covered about 14 of the 90 empty acres of property near 14300 block of Fourth Plain Road, should be gone by today.

The city contracted with Nutter Corp. to flatten the dirt mounds that had become a playground for off-road vehicles.

Neighbors have been complaining of noise for a year; others are worried about the safety of the riders.

“No Trespassing” signs will be installed within the next week to warn people away.

Even if the dirt hills are gone, there is some concern that people will continue to use the flat space for racing motorcycles and four-wheeling.

No development has been planned for the property. But any motorists on the land are considered trespassers and the Vancouver Police Department has been notified of this change. Anyone unlawfully there can be fined up to $500.
