LA CENTER — A park bench was dedicated Jan. 15 to Jeff Le Bouef, who was injured in high school as a result of a diving accident which left him paralyzed.
Le Bouef was active in the community, including serving on the La Center Planning Commission and teaching computer skills to adults and children before he died Oct. 22, 2008. He was 33.
His father-in-law, Bruce Petersen of La Center, built the bench and it was placed in Sternwheeler Park. Le Bouef’s wife, Kristen, son, Mason, his mother, Nancy Smith, and other family members and friends attended the bench dedication Jan. 15.
