BATTLE GROUND — If you want to see a couple of Melisse Laing’s contemporary art quilts, you better have your passport up to date.

Two quilts Laing created for the Color Improvisations show, “Seeing the Light” and “Out on a Limb,” will be among those at the Museum of Fine Art in Verona, Italy’s modern art gallery, Palazzo Forti, March 8 through 13.

Color Improvisations is an exhibition of contemporary quilts. The world-acclaimed artist Nancy Crow personally invited Laing and 25 other quiltmakers from North America and Europe to improvise on the topic of color. At the end of a two-year process, Crow selected 50 works never before shown in public. Laing has previously shown her quilts throughout the U.S. and in Germany and Brazil.
