SALMON CREEK — Megan Wills, a graduate of Columbia River High School and resident of the Salmon Creek area, has been an AmeriCorps team leader working with Habitat for Humanity in the New Orleans area over the past two months.

Wills has directed a team working on 10 homes and earned experience with everything from setting trusses to hanging drywall. Her team also led a large number of local volunteers.

The project wraps up on March 3, and Wills will return to a regional AmeriCorps hub in Denver for a week of debriefing and planning. Her term as an AmeriCorps volunteer ends this July; she will have worked on four projects.

AmeriCorps is a full-time, residential, national service program for young adults 18 to 24.
