One hundred fifty Clark County horse lovers competed in the 2011 “Winter Woolies” horse show at the Jack Giesy horse arena at the Clark County Fairgrounds on Feb. 13.

Many of them were children who showed off their developing riding skills.

“This is just a fun schooling show,” said Alice Heller, vice president of the Clark County Executive Horse Council, an umbrella organization for local interest groups.

She said there are more horses per capita in Clark County than anywhere west of the Mississippi River — an estimated 35,000.
