KENT — Heather Corral walked into the ShoWare Center with about 15 minutes left in the pre-game warmups.

She ended up leading her teammates in the final drill. Unfortunately for Corral and the Falcons, though, she was on crutches.

Corral, a junior, learned Monday what she had feared — a ruptured ACL in her left knee and is done for the remainder of the playoffs.

Her father, Art Corral, confirmed that the doctor had told the family that had the tear been less significant, she could have been measured for a brace and played at the upcoming Class 3A state tournament.

But the doctor called it a “complete rupture,” Art Corral said.

Heather Corral has received several verbal offers from Division I programs. Art Corral said the half-dozen programs who have already heard about the injury contacted Heather through text messaging and Facebook that they support her, wish her the best in recovery, and stand behind their initial scholarship offers.

Heather Corral said she hopes to have surgery as soon as possible so she can work to return for her senior season at Prairie.
