CAMAS — Five Shahala Middle School students outwitted teams representing 56 other Northwest middle schools to become first-place champions at the Bonneville Power Administration’s 20th annual Science Bowl. In the first round, each team competed against four randomly assigned teams. That round’s winners competed in a double-elimination tournament until a winner was determined. “All of these bright young students should be congratulated on their Science Bowl performances,” said Cheri Benson, BPA Science Bowl coordinator. The competition is the largest in the nation. This win gives the Camas students the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. later this year to compete in the Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl.
