The Hockinson Hawks had their chances, but the chances ran out in the fourth quarter at the Energy Classic in Gillette, Wyo.
“We’re competing. We’re playing hard. We’ll just have a stretch that doesn’t go our way,” Hockinson coach Matt Gruhler said.
The Hawks were within four points with four minutes to play, but Natrona Valley of Casper, Wyo., got a 3-pointer to fall and then made free throws down the stretch to pull away from Hockinson.
Hayden Hall led the Hawks with 11 points.
Hockinson will take on Notre Dame High School of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, at 9 a.m. Friday.
