A car fire on northbound Interstate 5 in Salmon Creek snarled traffic on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The fire was reported around 1:14 p.m. near the I-5/Interstate 205 merger. One lane of each freeway was blocked while firefighters with Clark County Fire District 6 doused the flames. Washington State Patrol assisted with traffic control.

The fire was contained to the engine compartment of an older truck, said Eric Quitslund, assistant chief of operations for Fire District 6.

Two engines responded, typical for an incident on the highway, and were on scene for 14 minutes, Quitslund said.

There were no reports of injuries. The fire caused minor damage to the vehicle, Quitslund said.
