Washington State University Vancouver will host Scholarships 101 at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, in the Dengerink Administration building, Room 110. The event is free to the public and free parking will be available in Orange 1 lot.

Scholarships 101 is intended for anyone interested in learning where to find scholarships, regardless of which college or university a student plans to attend. The workshop will cover where to find the best scholarships, how to write award-winning essays and offer helpful tips from prior scholarship recipients.

Seventy-five percent of WSU Vancouver students receive some form of financial aid, grant or scholarship. Last year, the WSUV campus awarded more than $1 million in scholarship and tuition waiver awards to upwards of 300 students. The average award was $3,500. In the 2011-2012 academic year, $256,000 in scholarships were awarded.

WSU Vancouver is at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
