Camas — After the death of a former Camas School District board President Gary Tipton, his widow, Mary, donated nearly $1,000 to the Camas-Washougal High School robotics team, Team Mean Machine. To show their appreciation, the team named their 2011 Bunny Bot Competition robots Gary and Tipton. In 2011, the team won both the Seattle Cascade Regional Competition and the Autodesk Oregon Regional Competition, earning them a spot at the 2011 World Championships in St. Louis, Mo. The team also will compete in both of the regional meets in 2012. On Dec. 17 at Catlin Gabel High School in Portland, the team competed with Gary and Tipton in a modified version of robot Capture the Flag. Team Mean Machine had prepared for this competition since the beginning of September.
