Boys basketball: Columbia River 63, Mark Morris 56

John Hanberg had a career-high 17 points and Isaiah Smith led the Chieftains with 23 points in a win over Mark Morris of Longview but in a game in Salem, Ore.

Hanberg connected on five 3-pointers, including two in a 21-point second quarter for the Chieftains.

“It was a good combination from inside-outside,” Columbia River coach David Long said. “We got a lot of points from different spots on the floor tonight.”

This was the first of three games in three days for Columbia River at the Capital City Classic in Salem. The Chieftains will play Scappoose on Wednesday then Dayton on Thursday.
