Hockinson — Hundreds of people came out to the fourth Sharing is Caring event in mid-November at the Hockinson Apostolic Lutheran Church, off of Northeast 164th Street. The free-stuff exchange is meant to help local families who are struggling in the bad economy. Donna Aho, a member of the church, launched the project in 2009. “We want to pass on each thank you we received to all the people who gave,” Aho said later. “One person thanked me because her children now have winter coats. Another person’s home burned, and they found items to start over. Your donations helped make the upcoming winter a little warmer and easier.” The next Sharing is Caring event is set for the week of April 23.
