Longview police say Adrian Jess Kramer used a hatchet to slice off the ear of a man who accused him of theft.

Longview police are asking the public to help find Kramer, 31, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Shortly after noon on Monday, police say, a Fred Meyer loss-prevention employee confronted Kramer for suspected shoplifting in the store at 3184 N.E. Ocean Beach Highway in Longview.

Kramer allegedly whipped out a hatchet or small ax and sliced off the employee’s left ear, according to a police bulletin.

Police say Kramer escaped.

The employee was taken to OHSU Hospital in Portland, where surgeons reattached the ear.

Police say they have probable cause to arrest Kramer on suspicion of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and third-

degree theft. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.

Those with information about Kramer’s whereabouts can call Detective Steve Dennis at 360-442-5827.
