Cascade Highlands — Residents and employees of Cascade Park Care Center filled 394 shoe boxes for children in war-torn and poverty-stricken countries. In November, the boxes were filled with small toys, hard candy, school supplies and personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap as part of Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse program. “We love being a part of the joy rising in these children as they open their boxes of goodies packed with love,” said Shannon Smith, executive director at the care center. “We want to let them know they matter, and that someone is thinking about them.”
