Soccer honors at Camas — Drew White of Camas was one of five players nationwide to be repeat honorees on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America Team.

White, a forward, led the Papermakers to the Class 3A state championship last spring.

After graduating from Camas in June, White went on to play soccer for the University of Washington.

White was the only player among the 77 selection nationwide to come from the state of Washington.

All 77 athletes will be recognized as the annual All-America Luncheon on Jan. 14 as part of the NSCAA’s annual convention in Kansas City, Mo.

Camas boys and girls soccer coach Roland Minder was selected as the NSCAA’s Far West Region coach of the year. The Far West Region encompasses Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, New Mexico and Colorado.

Minder led the Camas boys to the 3A state championship in the spring, then coached an injury-riddled girls team to a Class 3A Greater St. Helens League title and into the 3A state playoffs.

He is now one of eight finalists for national coach of the year, which will be announced at the NSCAA annual convention.
