Northwest Classical Ballet’s original production of “The Nutcracker,” about a magical Christmas Eve when the toys come to life includes professional dancers, pre-professionals and children of all ages. Original choreography is by Maricar Drilon, artistic director.

The ballet is one of several entertainment options this weekend. Others include a home tour, nativities festival and a holiday concert.

2. Nativities from around the world

The 11th annual Festival of Nativities features more than 600 nativity sets from around the world. Children can enjoy crafts, dressing up, story time and wood carving. There will also be original artwork, performances by high school choirs and musical groups and a live re-enactment of the nativity outside at 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday.

3. Holiday homes on display

Tour two historic and two notable Camas homes decorated for the holiday season on the Holiday Home Tour. The self-guided tour includes live entertainment. Take a look inside the historic and recently renovated Farrell House, along with a historic Craftsman home, a contemporary house on the Columbia River and a traditional home in Lacamas Shores. Pick up program books with maps from the Camas Hotel.

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4.

4. Concert for a good cause

Enjoy the sounds of Christmas with Jim Fischer and Friends while helping to raise money for Friends of the Carpenter, a ministry that serves the homeless. The concert features Fischer, a pianist, the Clark College Chorale, Northwest Harmony Chorus and Knight Sound, along with multiple vocalists and musicians.

5. Madcap adventure with ‘The Muppets’

Walter (voiced by Peter Linz), the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and friend Mary (Amy Adams) discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater. To save the theater, they decide to get the old gang back together for one last show.

“The Muppets” is rated PG.
