Image — It only takes one. In this case, one man who wanted to send the people of Japan something tangible for comfort and warmth in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.
Kevin Kuntz, an employee of Vancouver’s SEH America, began a blanket drive. The drive started with Kuntz’s church congregation in Gresham and quickly grew to include Vancouver and other cities in the Portland metro area.
In the matter of days, more than 5,000 blankets and quilts, 1,100 pairs of socks, 30 bags of warm clothing and 225 children’s games were collected. SEH has a facility within the Fukushima Prefecture evacuation zone. Many who are sleeping on cold floors of shelters and others who remain without electricity will benefit from the blankets and notes of comfort that were attached.
