Nelly is a 7-year-old black and white domestic shorthair. Nelly like belly rubs and her previous owner said she loves to cuddle on the couch and in bed. She has lived with other cats and dogs but is a little shy, so she would need a slow introduction to any furry friends.

Dolly is a 2½-year-old American Staffordshire terrier. Dolly spent some time in a foster home, where we learned a few basic commands. She is housebroken. Dolly loves children and gets along with cats. She would need to meet any male dogs that she may be living with before going home with them. Dolly will need a yard with a 6-foot-tall fence so she can play safely outside.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
