Washougal — St. Anne’s Episcopal Church celebrated its 60th anniversary. Honored guests included the Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Lonergan. In 1952, the Rev. Lonergan was the first vicar to serve at St. Anne’s.

Guests took turns sharing memorable moments at the church. Ron Tooley recalled falling off a ladder while tree trimming on the church grounds. His first thought was, “Turn off the chainsaw.”

Other honored guests included the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Hunter. The Rev. Hunter served as vicar from 1969 to 1974 and introduced the tradition of Shrove Tuesday pancake supper to St. Anne’s in 1970.

St. Anne’s has served east Clark County for 60 years after its humble beginnings in Charles Bishop’s living room.
