Skyview started playing at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Turned out, it was no big deal that kickoff was at 7 p.m.

The Storm rallied from an early 17-point deficit to beat Coeur d’Alene 36-34 in a wild interstate football game at Kiggins Bowl.

The Vikings were up by 17 points just six minutes into the first quarter before the Storm got it going in their home opener.

Kieran McDonagh came off the bench to throw three touchdown passes and Parker Henry rushed for 161 and two touchdowns, leading the Storm (1-1) to the thrilling comeback.

Reiley Henderson’s 7-yard touchdown reception from McDonagh with 11:44 left in the game gave Skyview its first lead at 36-34, then the Storm defense held off the Vikings in their final four drives.

Mo Morrison had two interceptions in the final four minutes of the game, including the game-saver on the 10-yard line with 43 seconds remaining.

The Storm survived having a blocked punt returned for a touchdown, a kickoff returned for a score, and five interceptions.

Skyview’s defense helped, though, with three interceptions and several stops on third and fourth down.

Henry was a beast, carrying the ball 31 times for his 161 yards.

McDonagh finished 7 of 14 for 97 yards with his three touchdowns. He also rushed for 38 yards.

McDonagh found Henderson in the final minute of the first half to pull the Storm to within three points at 24-21.

The Vikings would score first in the second half, but the Storm responded with a fourth-down touchdown. McDonagh made a would-be tackler miss on the sack attempt, then lofted a deep ball to Karl Graves, who was wide open for the 30-yard touchdown to make it 31-28.

Skyview would add a safety on a Coeur d’Alene mistake on special teams.

The Vikings then went up 34-30 on a field goal late in the third quarter.

Less than two minutes later, the Storm had the lead.

Graves set up a touchdown with a 34-yard reception to the 7-yard line, then McDonagh and Henderson connected for their second touchdown of the game.

Then, in a game with 70 combined points, it turned defensive.

The Skyview defense got the ball back to the offense on downs on Coeur d’Alene’s next two possesions. Ellis Henderson was responsible for a couple of pass defenses in that stretch.

Then Morrison intercepted a pass with 3:11 left in the game with Coeur d’Alene driving.

Skyview failed to get a first down, though, and punted back to the Vikings.

Coeur d’Alene was driving again — this time to Skyview’s 23-yard line — but Morrison ended things with his pick on the 10-yard line with 43 seconds remaining.

It took nearly three hours — two-and-a-half for the Storm — but Skyview picked up its first win of the year.
