When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at White Salmon (Columbia) HS
Records: Washougal 1-0, White Salmon 0-1; non-league game.
Game notes: The Panthers drove 73 yards in 12 plays to score the winning TD with 28 seconds left to beat Hudson’s Bay 10-7 in the head coaching debut for Bob Jacobs at Washougal … The Panthers suited up 22 players for last week’s game. Jacobs hopes to have more eligible and in uniform tonight. … QB Colton Sullivan was 9 for 13 passing for 92 yards and he kicked a 40-yard field goal. … Washougal’s defense recovered five Bay fumbles. … White Salmon lost 49-20 to Goldendale after falling behind 35-6 at halftime. … The two teams haven’t faced each other in 10 years.
Columbian’s take: Colton Sullivan is a good QB, but on the Panthers’ winning TD drive against Bay it was the running game that led the way. If the Panthers can get both games going, they’ll be much improved. It’s a long drive into the Gorge to play at White Salmon, and that may be the only thing going against the Panthers at this point. That and their numbers. Pick: Washougal
