Prep football Week 2: Enumclaw vs. Union

The Columbian
Published: September 10, 2010, 12:00am

When, where: 1 p.m. Saturday at McKenzie Stadium

Records: Enumclaw 1-0, Union 0-1; non-league game

Game notes: This is a rematch of last year’s state championship game — in basketball. It’s also a pretty good football matchup. … Enumclaw is the No. 6 team in the Seattle Times’ Class 3A poll. … Union is among the 4A teams to “keep an eye on” in the Times’ ranking. … Enumclaw opened the season with a 40-14 win over Yelm. … Enumclaw led 34-0 at halftime. … QB Dylan Podolak threw three TD passes, including two to Tyle Carlson. … Andy Holdener run rushed for two TDs. … Union hung tough with No. 1 Bellevue before losing 20-6. … Brandon Brody-Heim led the Titans with 17 carries for 94 yards. .. Enumclaw lost to Capital 42-7 in the state preliminary round last year. … Capital then went on to lose to Union 30-12 in the first round of state.

Columbian’s take: Enumclaw presents another tough matchup for the Titans, who are still trying to hit their stride offensively. But we have a really hard time pick Union to open the season 0-2. Pick: Union
