The Columbian
Published: September 9, 2010, 12:00am

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

Records: Camas 1-0, Mountain View 1-0; Class 3A Greater St. Helens League opener for both teams.

Game notes: This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2007, and the first as 3A GSHL rivals. … Mountain View is playing its first 3A GSHL game, having made the move this offseason from Class 4A. … The Papermakers are ranked No. 3 at Class 3A by the Seattle Times by rollling to a 29-15 win over Timberline of Lacey at Qwest Field last week. …. Camas overcame some early miscues to outscore the Blazers 22-6 in the second half. … The Papermakers defense stiffened, allowing only a kickoff return for a TD in the second half … The Papermakers intercepted three passes last week, but face a different offensive attack against Mountain View. Camas won’t see 36 pass attempts like it did against Timberline. … Mountain View attempted only eight passes in a 35-7 win over Evergreen … Mountain View stacked the line against Evergreen’s running attack, often putting 10 defenders on the line of scrimmage. … The Thunder held Evergreen to no first downs and -1 yard of offense in the first half …. Camas will present a different challenge to the Thunder defense. … Camas’ Logan Grindy was 20 of 32 for 233 yards last week, completing passes to six different receivers. … Junior Zach Marshall rushed 12 times for 67 yards and three TDs for Camas. … Mountain View’s PJ Jones rushed 15 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

Columbian’s take: The Papermakers are a talented bunch and deserving of their No. 3 state ranking. Mountain View has been known to surprise folks from time to time, but we expect the Thunder to get a rude welcome to the 3A GSHL. Pick: Camas
