1A Trico football: Stevenson 50, White Salmon 20

The Columbian
Published: October 30, 2010, 12:00am

Stevenson scored on every possession and fought off an early attack from White Salmon to pick up the victory on the road.

The victory gave Stevenson a share of the Trico League title, but the Bulldogs will advance as the league’s No. 2 seed behind Toledo.

Christian Morris had 222 yards rushing on 17 carries and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

Stevenson coach Craig McKee said the Bulldogs’ offensive line came through again.

“The skill guys got their yards because (the offensive line) opened some holes,” McKee said.

Zach Castro threw three touchdown passes, two to Kyle Russell on plays of 13 and 59 yards, and finished 7 of 9 for 178 yards.

“White Salmon did a heck of a job,” McKee said. “They had a great scouting report and drove to score the both times they had the ball (in the first half).”

Next up: Stevenson (8-1, 6-1) vs. Rainier, 1A district playoff; White Salmon (1-8, 1-6) ends its season.
