Led by starting quarterback Jake Dahlberg, the Timberwolves built a 41-0 halftime advantage and piled up some impressive numbers.

Dahlberg finished 14 of 17 for 308 yards and two touchdowns, and Riley O’Dell went 8 of 9 with two TDs. On the receiving end of that aerial show, Ben Lyons caught passes for 200 yards, and Andy Bemis had two TD receptions.

“The kids just played hard form the start,” coach Nate Becksted said. “They kind of continued the second half they played last week against Camas.”

In that game, Heritage lost 34-15 after trailing 31-0 at the half.

“We’ve had a lot of close games all year,” Becksted said. “We’re 2-6, and there’s a lot of 6-2 teams that we played into overtime or lost close games.”

Despite that 2-6 record, Heritage is 1-2 in Class 4A Greater St. Helens League play. If the Timberwolves defeat Evergreen next week, they will qualify for a spot in the preliminary round of the state playoffs.

Next up: Heritage (2-6, 1-2) vs. Evergreen; Battle Ground (1-7, 0-4) vs. Prairie
