When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at District Stadium, Battle Ground
Records: Heritage (1-6, 0-2); Battle Ground (1-6, 0-3), 4A GSHL game
Game notes: It’s hard to imagine that a Week 8 game between a pair of 1-6 teams that are winless in league would have playoff ramifications, but this one does. … For all the struggles Battle Ground has had this season, the Tigers could make their season with a win over Heritage. … At best, a win over Heritage would put BG in a position to qualify for the playoffs through a tiebreaker after Week 9. A loss eliminates the Tigers. … Heritage controls its own playoff fate. Two wins by the Timberwolves this week and next sends Heritage to the playoffs. … Heritage opened the season with a quarterback platoon between Riley O’Dell and Jake Dahlberg. Then, O’Dell took over as the full-time starter, passing for more than 1,400 yards. But he struggled last week against Camas, and Dahlberg played well in relief, throw two second-half TD passes.
The Columbian’s take: Heritage is a 1-6 team that could easily by 3-4 or 4-3 with a few breaks here and there. The only close game Battle Ground has had is its OT win over Woodland. PICK: Heritage.
