3A GSHL football: Columbia River 14, Fort Vancouver 12

Richard Vansiclen scored on a 6-yard touchdown run with five seconds to play, but Columbia River knocked down a pass on the two-point conversion to preserve the victory.

River took a 14-6 lead with about eight minutes to play on Remick Kawawaki’s second touchdown run of the game. Kawawaki finished with 138 yards on 24 carries.

River got the ball back late in the fourth quarter and was attempting to run the clock out. But the Trappers recovered a fumble at the Fort 40 with less than three minutes to play, setting up the last-second touchdown.

Dillon Derhalli led River with 11 tackles and Terrence Joshua had eight tackles. Jeremy Newton and Justin Jenks both recovered fumbles for River.
