Prep football Week 7: Kelso vs. Mountain View

The Columbian
Published: October 15, 2010, 12:00am

When, where: 5 p.m. Friday at McKenzie Stadium

Records: Kelso (5-1, 3-0); Mountain View (4-2, 2-1); 3A GSHL league game

Game notes: Kelso must be getting tired of playing the 5 p.m. game at McKenzie Stadium. It’s the third time in four weeks the Hilanders have played in that slot. … This game figures to have playoff ramifications. Kelso wants to stay in the hunt for the league title, and Mountain View, having already lost to Camas, has an eye on the No. 2 playoff seed. … The Hilanders scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns last week to knock of Evergreen 21-13. … Mountain View handled Evergreen 35-7 way back in Week 1. … Mountain View buried Fort Vancouver 56-7 despite not having leading rusher P.J. Jones available. … Expect a short game. Both teams have run-heavy offenses … Mountain View QB Ryan Hansen was 4 for 5 passing for 126 and two touchdowns against Fort. … Kelso held its opponents to nine total points in the first three weeks; 69 in the past three weeks.

Columbian’s take: This is the game of the week in 3A GSHL. Both teams were shut down and shot out by Union. But Mountain View’s shutout was closer (10-0 compared to 36-0). PICK: Mountain View
