Prep football Week 6: Columbia River vs. Prairie

The Columbian
Published: October 8, 2010, 12:00am

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at District Stadium, Battle Ground

Records: Columbia River (3-2, 1-2); Prairie (2-3, 1-2); 3A GSHL league game

Game notes: This is a key game. The winner remains in the hunt for a playoff spot. The loser faces a very uphill battle to the postseason. … After struggling to score points against Kelso and Camas, Columbia River has the offense moving in back-to-back wins … Sophomore Remick Kawawaki has rushed for 287 yards on 42 carries in the past two weeks. … Prairie QB Colin Seitz has passed for 882 yards and eight TDs this season. But last week against Camas, Coleman Weisenborn came in the second half and completed 15 of 24 passes for 152 yards. … The Falcons have several talented receivers, but Avi Slifer leads the way with 19 catches for 388 yards.

Columbian’s take: With losses already to Camas and Kelso, the Chieftains know that if they wins out, they’ll head to the playoffs. But that must start tonight on the road. It’s a big test for River. PICK: Columbia River
