Riley O’Dell threw for two touchdowns and ran for two, leading the Timberwolves past the Generals in Portland. O’Dell’s 1-yard run with 40 seconds left provided the winning points, capping a drive that started when Heritage recovered a Grant fumble near midfied with the Generals trying to run out the clock.
O’Dell finished 27 of 33 for 388 yards passing. He hooked up with Ben Lyons for an 80-yard score and with Mike Rivers on a 36-yard touchdown, both in the third quarter as Heritage built a 21-12 lead.
Grant scored on two runs of more than 20 yards to go up 26-21 with about three minutes to play. The Timberwolves turned over the ball on downs on their next drive, but got the ball back on a fumble near midfield with one timeout and drove for the winning score.
Lyons had seven catches for 159 yards to lead Heritage receivers.
