LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Squirrels in Longview, Washington, can rest easier now that the city’s “Nutty Narrows Bridge” is back in place.

The Daily News says that with much fanfare — including speeches, blessings and cheerleaders — the bridge was put back in place Monday across busy Olympia Way.

The bridge across was built in 1963 between two trees after a local builder wanted to save the squirrels from being hit by cars. It was taken down recently for cleaning and repairs. The 60-foot span is made of aluminum pipe and fire hose.
